Job Summary
Performs a variety of duties related to procurement, preparation, distribution and clean-up of food for patients and staff, while maintaining a sanitary and orderly work area. Responsible for planning patient menus in coordination with the dietician. Assists in Materials Management functions, as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service/health care dietary department (Recommended)
- Serv Safe Food Handler Certificate (Required within 90 days of hire)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Related study preferred
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit, converse, and listen
- Use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- To reach with hands and arms
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be able to stand and/or walk five to eight hours per day

Responsibilities
- Prepare food for patients, and others as needed, according to identified dietary requirements.
- Deliver food to patients in a timely fashion.
- Meet with consulting dietician to coordinate meal planning and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Create and place orders for food and supplies as needed.
- Restock refrigerators and dry food storage areas in remote locations (inpatient & PACU).
- Maintain cleanliness of food prep and storage areas.
- Maintain adherence to regulatory agency standards as well as departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain all required food service logs.
- Safe Staffing guidelines are based on the needs of the inpatient unit. The inpatient unit operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Weekend shifts will be needed. Staffing will be managed by the Inpatient Unit Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
