Essential Duties
- Learn and perform food service routines within a short period of time
- Set up and prepare meal trays
- Strip returned trays and wash dishes
- Assist with serving meals to residents
- Operate the dishwashing machine
- Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwasher at the beginning of each shift
- Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles
- Prepare nourishments and snacks
- Sweep and mop kitchen and dietary areas
- Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and equipment
- Check that the kitchen is clean and sanitary at all times
- Carry out trash and garbage
- Put groceries away in a safe, orderly, and sanitary manner
- Leave the kitchen clean and sanitary at the end of each shift
- Absorb and respond to questions from managers and employees
- Absorb and respond to questions from employees
- Absorb and respond to questions from residents
- Absorb and respond to questions from family members
- Absorb and respond to questions from visitors
- Assist the Cook or Dietary Supervisor as needed
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff
- Work cooperatively and harmoniously with staff in all departments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler’s Certificate
