Dietary Aide HCC

Job Purpose

Aids in food preparation following established procedural guidelines, and as directed by the Dietary Manager or supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Fulfills diet orders and NPO diets
• Assists cooks in preparing meals, desserts, and snacks
• Handles food and supplies according to facility procedures
• Delivers trays and meals to patients/residents
• Prepares between-meal nourishments and serves according to guidelines
• Communicates with patients/residents/families in a professional manner
• Cleans tables, work areas, and kitchen equipment
• Records and maintains temperature logs
• Stores and prepares leftovers
• Operates kitchen equipment and follows standardized recipes
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and infection control policies
• Attends and participates in continuing education programs
• Honors patient/resident rights and complies with corporate compliance program
• Reports job-related hazards and participates in surveys

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Cleans tables and work areas after meals
• Cleans and maintains kitchen equipment
• Operates various kitchen appliances
• Records and checks temperatures and chemical levels
• Communicates effectively with patients/residents/families
• Complies with safety regulations and infection control policies
• Participates in surveys and continuing education

Minimum Education and Experience

• Sufficient education for functional literacy
• No prior experience required, on-the-job training provided

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

• Previous food service and/or food preparation experience
• Experience in long-term care dietary settings
