About the role
Majestic Care of Bloomington is looking for a Dietary Aide to join our team's mission and believe in our core values. Responsibilities
- Prepare meals and serve using portion control directives.
- Ensure all foods are pulled and thawed in proper time and stored correctly.
- Check menus and complete any pre-preparation tasks.
- Review daily menus and production sheet with Director of Nutrition and Food Services.
- Safely operate equipment, ensuring it is properly cleaned and sanitized after each use.
- Report equipment problems as per community policy.
- Take temperatures of foods for each meal and document.
- Check daily temperatures of cooler/freezer and document.
- Record meal substitutions, if applicable.
- Maintain cleaning schedule to verify proper cleaning is completed daily and document.
- Label and date foods and rotate properly.
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and community staff.
- Ensure all foods are properly garnished for each meal.
- Check foods in for accuracy and proper storage.
- Straighten coolers, freezer, and maintain perpetual inventory.
- Assist with monthly inventories.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance program.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months of experience in large quantity food preparation preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older (federal child labor laws prohibit care team members younger than 18 from working with power-driven machines such as meat slicers and commercial mixers).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English.
- Physical ability to reach (overhead), stand, walk, sit, pull, lift, carry, push, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and twist.
- Knowledge of quantity and quality cooking, portion control, and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of modified diets.
- Familiarity with ordering/purchasing of food items and Board of Health regulations/state requirements.
Nutrition Services employees are restricted from working in the department when suffering from a contagious infection or cold. A written notice from a physician stating the employee is free from contagion and able to return to work is required. Lesions or cuts on hands/fingers must be covered with surgical gloves or finger cots to prevent contamination.
