About the Role

This position is part of the Morning Pointe Operations Team, a resident-focused, high-performance, high-commitment work team that supports the Morning Pointe purpose of “partnering with families in meeting the challenges of life.” The food service staff ensures quality food and beverages are served in accordance with Morning Pointe Policies and Procedures and local food service regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Morning Pointe team to build relationships and strong communication with residents and families to ensure adjustment to the community, identification of needs and problems, and development of an appropriate plan of service for each resident.
  • Verify meal requests of residents and communicate them with the cook.
  • Brew coffee and tea and serve as requested.
  • Serve water and juice as requested.
  • Assist with serving meals as directed by supervisor.
  • Promptly bus tables after meals and reset tables for the next meal with silverware, stemware, coffee mugs, and cloth napkins.
  • Replace clean tablecloth toppers when needed.
  • Keep all counters in the dining room clean and wiped down; refill condiments as needed.
  • Change out fresh flowers used as centerpieces as directed by supervisor.
  • Prepare nourishment and snacks as requested.
  • Assist with food preparation and tray setup for residents as directed by supervisor.
  • Clean dining room, tables, chairs, floors, and food preparation areas, including utensils and equipment.
  • Vacuum floors as needed and after each meal; wash dishes, take out trash, and mop floors.
  • Assist with daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning of the kitchen, dish room, pantry, and dining room.
  • Follow safety regulations, infection control, and universal precautions policies and procedures.
  • Report hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents, or incidents to your supervisor immediately.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Carry out special duties or projects as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Knock before entering a resident’s room when delivering or picking up trays.
  • Report complaints to the Food Service Director.
  • Adhere to the facility dress code and attendance policy.
  • Provide consistent customer service to residents, guests, and staff.

Requirements

  • Experience in food preparation work in a service environment is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated support and understanding of the philosophy of Morning Pointe and the five domains of health (physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and social).
  • Flexible work schedule.

Physical Demands

This position is classified as HEAVY, requiring:

  • Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift/move objects.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning, and stretching.
  • Finger and hand dexterity.
  • Visual and hearing acuity, along with the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
