About the Role
The Dietary Services Aide supports meal preparation, service, and sanitation in our skilled-nursing community, ensuring residents, families, visitors, and staff receive accurate, timely meal service while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment. This role may also be known as Dietary Aide, Food Service Aide, Nutrition Services Aide, or Kitchen Aide.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation for residents, visitors, and staff, including special events and activities
- Attend and serve food during in-service or staff meetings as requested
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, maintaining sanitary conditions
- Set and clear tables before and after meals
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining area
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control practices

- Support the dietary team with additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers
- Ability to follow supervisor instructions safely and efficiently
- Commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality and professionalism
- Adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable state and federal regulations
Physical Demands
- Stand, sit, walk, and change positions frequently
- Lift or carry up to 25 lbs.; push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Reach, balance, kneel, stoop, and bend as needed
Safety Requirements
- Follow all safety policies, including use of carts for moving items
- Wear skid-resistant, supportive footwear to prevent slips and falls
- Use protective hand equipment when handling knives, sharp objects, or hot surfaces
- Utilize required PPE such as gloves, hairnets, and beard guards when handling food
- Report work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentation
- Participate in company drug testing procedures
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional kitchen environment, utilizing stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, coolers, and other food service equipment. The environment is indoors with adequate lighting and ventilation.
Pay
$15.00–$15.50 per hour
