About the role
The Diet Clerk is at the forefront of customer service, providing Orlando Health patients and guests with service above and beyond expectations to ensure a memorable food and dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Provides food service to patients as assigned by Team Leader.
- Maintains patient diet prescription, diet order changes, nourishment orders, and late tray requests.
- Accurately checks patient meal choices according to physician diet orders.
- Adheres to patient’s food allergies, intolerances, and food preferences in a timely fashion.
- Knowledgeable of nutritional meal patterns and able to modify diets accordingly.
- Tally special food orders as needed.
- Operates hospital’s computer systems and understands operation of the fax machine.
- Communicates proper information regarding patients to the Food & Nutrition Leadership team, Clinical Nutrition team, Nursing, food service peers, or ancillary team members as needed.
- Interacts cooperatively and constructively with patients, staff, and guests, communicating in an open, honest, gracious, and compassionate manner at all times, including person-to-person, telephone, and written forms.
- Promotes a positive impression of the Food and Nutrition department.
- Performs as a team member with peers.
- Interacts appropriately with a culturally diverse population.
- Follows chain of command when communicating departmental and individual concerns or problems.
- Models essential service behaviors, such as excellent communication and customer service skills with patients, nursing staff, team members, and visitors.
Requirements
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Must have basic math skills. Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Experience: One (1) year experience in food service or in an office clerical position.
