About the role
The Diet Aide 2 is responsible for cashiering duties, serving food to cafeteria, grill, and DDCI café customers in a polite and courteous manner, stocking supplies, keeping the cafeteria, DDCI café, grill area, and dining room clean and orderly, and providing quality service.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep operations running smoothly and sets a positive example.
- Anticipates customer needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customers for cues.
- Delivers legendary customer service by acting with a "customer comes first" attitude and connecting with customers.
- Reconciles cashier reports per shift to ensure correct cash balances.
- Keeps food, supplies, and equipment in food service areas clean and sanitized.
- Assists with training by positively reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful, encouraging coaching as needed.
- Follows operational policies and procedures for cash handling, safety, and security to ensure the safety of all employees and customers during each shift.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace so employees can locate resources and products as needed.
- Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers while following health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred; basic education necessary to read, write, and follow directions.
- Willingness and ability to learn other tasks and duties.
- No previous experience required; barista experience preferred.
- Mental ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform simple math tasks.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
- Ability to learn and understand policies and procedures related to handling cash, cleaning, sanitation, safety, and operation of cash registers and food/beverage equipment.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more during a shift.
Working Conditions
- May come in contact with patients.
- Exposure to heat, noise, wet floors, steam, water, cleaning chemicals, glass breakage, and sharp knives.
- Must be able to work in a congested area.
