Diesel Technician / Mechanic - Medford, OR

About the role

Gordon Truck Centers, Inc. (GTC) is seeking Diesel Technicians to join our team at our Freightliner Northwest location in Medford, OR. We are part of a larger network of 19 dealerships including Freightliner Northwest, Western Star Northwest, TrailerCraft, Western Mountain Bus, and Freightliner of Hawaii. Our mission is to help customers meet their transportation needs and provide reliable, high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Run diagnostic tests and analyze results
• Repair or replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems
• Work knowledge of engines, transmissions, differential, A/C and suspensions
• Determine unit condition by conducting inspections & diagnostic tests, identifying deficiencies
• Able to read schematics for electrical and air systems
• Develop technical skills through training opportunities
• Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications; make necessary adjustments if required
• Ensure the cleanliness of the shop

Requirements

Heavy equipment dealership experience is preferred, but all applicants should bring a strong mechanical aptitude, a team player mentality, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential. A CDL is preferred but not required. Completion of a formal automotive mechanic training program is preferred but not required.

Skills

Proficiency in engines, transmissions, differential, A/C and suspensions. Ability to read and interpret schematics for electrical and air systems. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
