Responsibilities
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs fleet equipment safely and correctly
- Conducts failure analysis, repairs, and rebuilds fleet equipment components correctly
- Informs management about housekeeping opportunities, harmful working conditions, and unsafe work practices, and suggests corrective actions
- Identifies and informs management of broken tools and missing supplies required for performing repairs on fleet equipment, and takes steps to solve issues if possible
- Correctly completes work orders and documents
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure safety and compliance
- Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity
- Operates and inspects mechanical equipment to diagnose defects
- Analyzes malfunctions and performs general overhaul, tune-ups, or preventive maintenance of equipment
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment
- Plans work procedures using charges, technical manuals, and experience
- Enters labor lines and parts into repair order computer system
- Travel to other company shop locations when staff is needed
- React to changes in productivity and handle other essential tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Two years' verifiable experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance with one year's experience
- Valid state-issued driver’s license
- Must pass DOT physical and drug screen
- A CDL, ASE, and State/Federal inspection certification is preferred but not required
- Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of various heavy trucks and semi-trailers and other mechanical equipment
- Basic hand tools required
- Must have working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel engines and repair of heavy trucks
- Ability to maintain detailed time and parts used on work orders
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to communicate with both internal and external customers
- Computer skills needed for diagnostics

- Must consent to the use of driver-facing event recorders in our fleet to promote the safety of our employees and the public

Schedule
- Travel may be required; must be able to work a varied schedule based on need
- Overtime may be necessary during peak periods
- Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Subject to both internal and external environmental conditions
- Subject to: standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
