Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status.

About the role

The Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision, receiving on-the-job training. Gains experience by working on the following items with minimal supervision: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance. Works on major components with close supervision and performs troubleshooting on minor problems.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Any lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death, including operating, repairing, or maintaining heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles, or handling hazardous materials and waste.

Responsibilities

• Perform and/or assist in general mechanical duties
• Attend training sessions and meetings
• Maintain a neat and orderly working area and proper handling of company tools
• Advise the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary
• Follow safe work practices and procedures, use safety equipment when required, and seek assistance when necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• Minimum three years hands-on experience or graduate of vocational courses
• A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities
• CDL preferred
