Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic

About the role

MHC is seeking a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision. This role is part of a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status, with on-the-job training provided. You will gain experience working on engine overhauls, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance, progressing to major components with close supervision. Responsibilities include troubleshooting minor problems, attending training sessions, maintaining a neat workspace, and following safe work practices. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Perform and assist in general mechanical duties with minimal supervision.
• Work on engine overhauls, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, and engine tune-ups.
• Perform major component repairs with close supervision.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical problems.
• Attend training sessions and meetings.
• Maintain a neat and orderly working area and handle company tools properly.
• Advise the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Follow safe work practices and procedures, using safety equipment as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum three years of hands-on experience or graduation from vocational courses.
• A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
• CDL preferred.
