Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic.
About the role
The Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision, receiving on-the-job training in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status. Performs and/or assists in general mechanical duties while gaining experience on the following items with minimal supervision:
- Engine overhaul
- Fuel systems
- Electrical systems
- Transmissions
- Cooling systems
- Chassis
- Brakes
- Engine tune-up
- General maintenance
Works on major components with close supervision, performs troubleshooting on minor problems, attends training sessions and meetings, and maintains a neat and orderly working area with proper handling of company tools. Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary and follows safe work practices and procedures.
This is a safety-sensitive position. Any person performing the position while under the influence of marijuana or any other illegal drug may constitute a threat to health or safety. The role includes operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles, or handling hazardous materials and/or waste.
Responsibilities
- Perform heavy-duty mechanical repairs under general supervision
- Assist in general mechanical duties and gain experience in specialized systems
- Work on major components with close supervision
- Troubleshoot minor problems
- Maintain a neat and orderly working area and handle company tools properly
- Advise the Shop Foreman of additional repair needs
- Follow safe work practices and use safety equipment when required
- Attend training sessions and meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- CDL preferred
- Minimum three years of hands-on experience or graduation from vocational courses
- A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required
- Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities
