About the role

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Elizabethton is seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and student-focused Diesel-Powered Equipment Technology Associate Instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct with classroom and lab activities for Diesel programs.
  • Prepare, maintain, and organize tools, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Oversee students during lab exercises and provide guidance on safe and effective practices.
  • Maintain accuracy in attendance and classroom documentation as required.
  • Communicate effectively with program leadership and staff.

Requirements

  • Diploma, certificate, associate degree, or higher in Diesel Technology, Diesel Powered Equipment Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, Automotive/Diesel Technology, or a closely related field and/or a combination of education, training, and directly related industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of diesel engines and related mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and computerized systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Ability to support diverse learners and work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology or a closely related field.
  • Previous instructional or teaching assistant experience in a technical education setting.
  • Current or previous ASE or other relevant industry certifications.

Benefits

Salary: $56,263-$67,517/Commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours per week. Instructional hours are expected during Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
