Hill International Trucks, the Tri-State area's leading medium- and heavy-duty truck and trailer dealership, is seeking Diesel Technicians to support our mobile maintenance department customers. This role works out of the Eighty-Four, PA location and focuses on Contract Fleet Preventative Maintenance, On-Call On-Site Maintenance, and 24-Hour Emergency Roadside Assistance.

About the role

Diesel Technicians repair and maintain diesel engine trucks according to dealership and factory specifications. Our Fleet Techs use state-of-the-art service trucks, fully equipped to meet customer needs and supplied by Hill International Trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag parts if under warranty or requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with service advisor/dispatcher immediately if additional work is needed, if outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure vehicles are kept clean and notify service advisor/dispatcher of any changes in appearance or condition.
  • Keep the shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain and account for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place in the same condition.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know).
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely and report any safety issues immediately to management.

Requirements

  • 2-3 or more years of experience as a diesel technician (required).
  • Some computer skills preferred.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications preferred but not required.
  • Valid CDL Class B license preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Bending, stooping, and kneeling for extended durations.
  • Frequent repetitive hand motion.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Frequent lifting of 5 to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of 50 to 100 lbs.
  • Performing accurate, knowledgeable, and detailed work.

Schedule

  • Shifts range from 3:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
  • On-call every 3rd or 4th weekend.
  • Generalized road-calls for other customers.

Pay

$25–$45 per hour + monthly performance bonuses and efficiency bonus incentives.
