About the role

At Hunter Truck, our family-owned Peterbilt dealership is seeking Diesel Mechanic Technicians at all skill levels. Positions are available in Bow, NH, with full-time daytime hours. A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is offered for Expert and Master-level technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment
  • Perform minor to advanced repairs as outlined on the repair order
  • Diagnose causes of malfunctions and complete repairs as directed by a supervisor
  • Assist other technicians on major repairs
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts
  • Save and tag warranty or customer-requested parts
  • Examine vehicles for additional safety or service needs
  • Document all work performed and recommended, including warranty information
  • Road test vehicles as required or refer to test technician
  • Keep work area, service truck, and customer vehicles clean and organized
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, and adhere to Hunter Truck safety policies
  • Expert and Master Levels: Handle complex mechanical and electrical issues with minimal supervision, perform electrical and/or air conditioning system repairs, perform major component repairs and/or overhauls

Requirements

  • Education & Experience: Entry-level candidates with up to 3 years of experience to highly skilled professionals with 5+ years in the field
  • Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards. A one-year certificate from a college or vocational/technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience, is preferred
  • Physical Requirements: Regular standing and use of hands; frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs, frequently up to 100 lbs, and occasionally more than 100 lbs. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must meet company insurability standards
  • Must have a one-year certificate from a college or vocational/technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and occasionally more than 100 lbs
  • Must have regular standing, use of hands, frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
