About the Role

As a Diesel Mechanic Technician, you’ll be diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Perform minor to advanced repairs as outlined on the repair order, diagnose causes of malfunctions and complete repairs as directed by a supervisor, assist other technicians on major repairs, communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts, save and tag warranty or customer-requested parts, examine vehicles for additional safety or service needs, document all work performed and recommended, including warranty information, road test vehicles as required or refer to test technician, keep work area, service truck, and customer vehicles clean and organized, report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor, stay current on manufacturer technical bulletins, follow all federal, state, and local regulations, and adhere to Hunter Truck safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Stay current on manufacturer technical bulletins
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, and adhere to Hunter Truck safety policies

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards
  • A one-year certificate from a college or vocational/technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience, is preferred
  • Regular standing and use of hands; frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs, frequently up to 100 lbs, and occasionally more than 100 lbs
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Expert to Master Levels

Expert to Master Levels will also handle complex mechanical and electrical issues with minimal supervision, perform electrical and/or air conditioning system repairs, perform major component repairs and/or overhauls.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: We’re hiring technicians at all experience levels—from entry-level candidates with up to 3 years of experience to highly skilled professionals with 5+ years in the field

Skills

Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are essential.
