About the role

The Diesel Mechanic Program Coordinator will work under minimal instruction/supervision within the guidelines established by the Dean of Manufacturing and Maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Program development
  • Teaching courses
  • Designing and developing curriculum
  • Providing a systematic plan for delivering instruction
  • Evaluating student performance
  • Advising students and mentoring instructors
  • Maintaining program certification/accreditation requirements
  • Maintaining all required documentation
  • Budgeting requirements and administrative reports
  • Assisting with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an associate degree in diesel mechanics or automotive technology or a related field
  • ASE master diesel or automobile technician certification (must be submitted with the application)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience
  • Valid South Carolina Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years teaching experience in diesel or automotive technology
  • Documented industry/teaching experience to include evidence of experience with current technology within the last three (3) years
  • Documented automatic transmission experience
  • Documented engine management and engine repair expertise
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of software applications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
