Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance measures on trucks and trailers
- Assembling & dissembling vehicle engines and cleaning fuel tanks
- Maintaining hubs and axles, adjusting or replacing as required
- Able to identify and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
- Maintains brake, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Repairs and replaces vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions
- Compiles inspection reports, documents repairs, reports findings to management
- Tests drives fleet to gauge performance
- Supports with parts inventory, cleanliness and safety of the shop environment
- Ensures tools, parts, and other equipment are in safe and operational condition
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards
Requirements
- ASE Diesel Certification helpful (not required)
- Associates degree in heavy truck technology helpful (not required)
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a tractor/trailer mechanic required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, hydraulics, air brakes, & electrical systems
- Manual dexterity, experience with hand tools
- Experience working in a non-climate-controlled environment, with long periods of standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting
- Ability to work safely, with excellent attention to detail
- Must be physically able to lift up to 75 lbs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
