Diesel Mechanic- Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance measures on trucks and trailers
• Assembling & dissembling vehicle engines and cleaning fuel tanks
• Maintaining hubs and axles, adjusting or replacing as required
• Able to identify and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
• Maintains brake, electrical and hydraulic systems
• Repairs and replaces vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions
• Compiles inspection reports, documents repairs, reports findings to management
• Tests drives fleet to gauge performance
• Supports with parts inventory, cleanliness and safety of the shop environment
• Ensures tools, parts, and other equipment are in safe and operational condition
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards

Requirements

• ASE Diesel Certification helpful (not required)
• Associates degree in heavy truck technology helpful (not required)
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a tractor/trailer mechanic required
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Possess an in-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, hydraulics, air brakes, & electrical systems
• Manual dexterity, experience with hand tools
• Experience working in a non-climate-controlled environment, with long periods of standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting
• Ability to work safely, with excellent attention to detail
• Must be physically able to lift up to 75 lbs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
