Diesel Mechanic Maintenance - 1st Shift (Williams Sausage Truck Shop)

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks.
• Perform emergency mechanical or electrical repairs.
• Comply with Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to Tyson policies and procedures.
• Read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics.
• Perform service calls on equipment at remote locations.
• Diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs.
• Perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment.
• Communicate effectively with transportation personnel including managers, drivers, and clerks.
• Advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date.
• Demonstrate proficiency with all tasks above, including preventive maintenance processes, fault code identification, basic electrical tasks, wheel end class/certification, brake inspector certification, and standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers).

Requirements

• Six (6) months of Diesel Mechanic experience or graduate of a Diesel Mechanic Training Program; experience must be documented on application or resume (can be a combination of employers totaling at least six months).
• Six (6) months of continuous work history with one (1) employer within the last twenty-four (24) months.
• Valid driver’s license.

Skills

• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills for documenting information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation.
• Ability to diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs.
• Ability to perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks.
• Ability to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment.
• Effective communication with transportation personnel.

Pay

$22.40 – $31.25 per hour (pay depends on experience).
