About the role
Provides day to day maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe operating fleet at the lowest cost.
Responsibilities
- Maintains company owned light, medium, and heavy vehicles and trailers.
- Performs repairs to mechanical failures.
- Tests all repairs.
- Assists/trains other mechanics as required.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Performs DOT inspections.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
- Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school (preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of a vehicle’s electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine.
- Ability to run diagnostic tests on vehicles, test drive vehicles to gauge performance, and maintain detailed records of the vehicles serviced.
- Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software.
- Strong commitment to teamwork.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; CDL-A preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must have appropriate inventory of hand tools.
- Must be able to operate hoisting and jacking equipment.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Willing to work occasional weekends as needed.
- Able to work well with others in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Able to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
