About the role
Provides day to day maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe operating fleet at the lowest cost.
Responsibilities
- Maintains company owned light, medium, and heavy vehicles and trailers.
- Performs repairs to mechanical failures.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Performs DOT inspections.
- Understands and complies with company EMS, SIPS and BMS policies and procedures.
- Reports all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
- Works well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Respects, is approachable, and builds strong working relationships.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
- Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school (preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of a vehicle’s electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine.
- Ability to run diagnostic tests on vehicles, test drive vehicles, and maintain detailed records.
- Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software.
- Strong commitment to teamwork.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; CDL-A preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to lift 100 pounds, walk and stand for 9-12 hours per day, lift 50 lbs. on a limited basis, and occasionally work in conditions that include loud noise and fumes.
- Able to work outdoors in extreme all-weather conditions.
Skills
- General knowledge of all mechanical systems incorporated in truck chassis.
- Diagnoses problems and tests all repairs.
- Removes, replaces, and installs parts and components.
- Provides all hand tools necessary to efficiently and safely perform repairs.
- Performs removal and replacement of all components.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Willing to work occasional weekends as needed.
