Diesel Mechanic
About the role
The Maintenance Technician A works under the supervision of a Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager. This role involves performing repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, air brake systems, engines, HVAC components, and suspension, drive train, and steering systems.
Principal Responsibilities
- Maintain advanced knowledge and strong skill proficiency in various vehicle components and systems, including chassis component repair and maintenance.
- Perform complex repair and maintenance functions on refuse bodies, air and hydraulic braking systems, engines, heating and air conditioning systems, and aftertreatment systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical concerns using scan tools.
- Complete line maintenance, welding, and fabrication tasks.
- Identify and resolve malfunctions using electronic tools.
- Participate in applicable Company training programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
Qualifications
- Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
- 5-7 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks.
- Strong background in suspensions, steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, and diesel emissions.
- ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) preferred but not required.
- LNG and/or CNG experience preferred but not required.
- Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License preferred but not required.
