About the Role

FCC Environmental Services is seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our growing fleet maintenance team. We are looking for well-rounded mechanics who can work on a variety of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment. This position is ideal for someone who "knows a little of everything" including diesel engines, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, diagnostics, welding, and preventive maintenance. Candidates must be dependable, safety-focused, and willing to work overtime as needed to support operational demands. Opportunities are available on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled services.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, suspension, steering, and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure fleet compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Complete oil changes, tire repairs, brake work, and other routine maintenance services.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and body repair work as needed.
  • Maintain accurate repair orders, maintenance records, and daily reports.
  • Assist with inventory management of parts, tools, and shop supplies.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team and operations staff to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all Company, DOT, OSHA, and safety regulations.
  • Work overtime and occasional weekends as needed to support fleet operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of diesel mechanic, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment repair experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines and heavy-duty truck systems.
  • Experience with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and suspension systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using diagnostic software and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed.
