Diesel Fleet Mechanic/Trailer Mechanic - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

  • Timely completion of routine maintenance and emergency repairs of the Distribution Center truck fleet.
  • Shop work, order parts, and maintain proper documentation for compliance issues.
  • Perform scheduled routine maintenance and diagnostics including but not limited to: Tire changes/rotations, Electrical and mechanical system checks, etc.
  • Perform emergency repairs as identified by drivers and inspections i.e. brakes, vehicle lighting, etc.
  • Proficiently perform stick welding operations when and where required including but not limited to: Cutting, Braising, and Fabricating.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Replace worn and/or malfunctioning parts including ordering replacement parts/materials.
  • Advise management of all safety related concerns.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of transportation equipment including specifications, maintenance, and operational requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with mig and stick welding.
  • Basic knowledge and competence on: Vehicle Wiring, Alternators, Starters, Relays, Fuel Solenoids, Air Brake Systems and other related parts.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain and repair diesel engines, heavy trucks and equipment (trailers) is required.
  • Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position.

Qualifications

  • Able to schedule shop work, order parts, maintain proper documentation for compliance issues, and ensure fleet is road worthy as required.
  • Must be certifiable and proficient in Air Brake systems.
  • Must be able to mount, dismount and patch truck tires.
  • Experience working on diesel engines, heavy trucks and equipment (trailers) is required.
  • Able to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob’s.

Pay

Starting hourly pay from $26.00 - $35.00/hour based on experience.
