Die Setter
About the role
The Die Setter is an entry level position that prepares and sets up tooling from the extrusion schedule to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. The Die Setter is responsible for tooling going through the caustic room. Die Setters may need to adapt to changing press schedules.
Responsibilities
- E nsures enough dies are in the die ovens at each press based upon the production schedule.
- Transfers dies to and from inventory system.
- Recycles failed dies quickly.
- Places dies in caustic solution to clean them of aluminum residue.
- Assists with die flow movement for staging and preparation.
- Utilizes a crane system for loading and unloading of caustic tanks.
- Operates a caustic system when needed.
- Disassembles dies and rinse.
- Operates automatic media blasting machine.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Additional technical or vocational training in machining, machine operation, or related fields is preferred
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar manufacturing environment is preferred
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume and distance.
- Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Environmental Hazards
- Physical: The employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Work Environment
- The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
