Key Responsibilities
- Repair, rebuild, and maintain casting and trim dies, operating necessary machines and equipment.
- Transport, clean, disassemble, repair, and reassemble casting and trim dies using lift trucks, die cleaning equipment, and cranes.
- Build and replace segments, cores, details, and parts from blueprints using required tools.
- Draw polish or grind die cavity surfaces using appropriate equipment.
- Perform on-machine repairs, remove stuck castings, correct dimensional issues, and adjust cores and trim punches.
- Conduct welding in both the foundry and die repair department.
- Troubleshoot production tooling problems, ensuring smooth operations.
- Complete documentation, work orders, pictorials, and records as directed.
- Maintain a neat and organized work area and equipment.
- Train new employees in proper die repair techniques and safety protocols.
- Perform all other duties necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the department.
Required Skills
- Ability to grind and polish die cavity surfaces using industry-standard tools.
- Experience in building and replacing segments, cores, and details based on blueprints.
- Proficiency in welding, especially within foundry and die repair settings.
- Strong capability to troubleshoot and resolve tooling problems efficiently.
- Effective communication skills to train new employees.
Required Education
- Associate's Degree, trade/technical school, or journeyperson certification required.
- Up to 2 years of training required if minimum experience is not met.
- Tool & Die Repair Journeyman Papers (preferred but not required).
