About the role
Maintains all aspects of the dies to ensure the quality of cast components.
Responsibilities
- Lifts using hoist or crane.
- Cleans dies using pressure washer.
- Polishes, grinds, and finishes core insert.
- Welds and brazes.
- Measures die parts using metric scale.
- Performs layout according to design specifications.
- Disassembles and assembles die parts.
- Fits die using handwork technique.
- Uses pipe threader to cut and thread pipe.
- Wires limit switches.
- Applies Sparktron coding.
- Completes daily reports of all die repair content.
- Completes Preventative Maintenance check sheet.
- Fabricates any needed items.
- Operates milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- One year certificate from college or technical school, or two to four years experience and high school diploma or G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or members of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work environment
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme heat.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Pay
Up to $29.25/hour, depending on experience.
