About the role
This position is available at the Canton Dialysis Center located at 2912 Tuscarawas St, W, Canton, OH 44708-4643.
Responsibilities
- Spend the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment.
- In the morning, the opening PCT is coming in to get the water room ready and the bicarb for the patients. They are testing the water for chlorine, checking to make sure the tools are calibrated. There are a lot of duties in the morning.
- Monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.
- Exposure to blood and needles.
- Ability to lift minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 50 pounds unassisted; able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, and use full range of body motions.
- Ability to interact in person and by phone clearly and efficiently.
- Use computer and all peripherals as needed to meet goals.
Requirements
- Dependable with a great work ethic, adaptable, reliable, friendly and easy going, enthusiastic, comfortable working with blood and needles, are comfortable with early shifts and long hours on your feet, love a fast-paced environment, and looking for a career in dialysis taking care of chronically ill patients.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
- Flexibility and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet so wear comfortable shoes!
- Health care experience preferred including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.

- Education on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
- Teamwork with cross-functional team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers and leadership.
- Shifts can begin as early as 3:00 am and can vary based on patient needs.
