About the role
The Dialysis Patient Care Technician position is for our Macon Hemlock Clinic, located at 657 Hemlock St, Suite 100, Macon, GA 31201. This role involves working directly with patients to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Gather patient stats before and after treatment
- Initiate and terminate treatment
- Monitor patients during treatment
- Collect patient blood samples per physician orders
- Prepare machines for hemodialysis treatments
- Clean and disinfect machines after treatment
- Conduct machine safety checks and log results for quality control
- Ensure all protocols and regulations are followed
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education offerings
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus
- Comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director within 8 weeks of hire
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state
- Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state certification program or national commercially available certification program within 18 months of hire date and maintained in good standing thereafter
