About the role
The Dialysis Patient Care Technician position is for our South Georgia Clinic, located at 3564 N Crossing Cir, Valdosta, GA 31602. This role involves working directly with patients to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN).
Responsibilities
- Gather patient stats before and after treatment
- Initiate treatment
- Maintain treatment
- Terminate treatment
- Collect patient blood samples per physician orders
- Prepare machines for hemodialysis treatments
- Clean and disinfect machines after treatment
- Conduct machine safety checks and log results for quality control
- Ensure all protocols and regulations are followed
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education offerings
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus
- Comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director, including demonstrated competency within 8 weeks of hire
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state
- Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state certification program or national commercially available certification program within 18 months of hire date and maintained in good standing thereafter
