Diagnostic Technician - PART TIME League City

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of technical procedures that require knowledge and good patient care, to include:
• Visual Testing
• Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)
• Corneal Topography
• IOL Master/Lenstar
• Basic IOL Calculations
• Pachymetry
• Specular Microscopy (ECC)
• Basic Fundus Photography
• External Photography for Ocular Plastics and Eye Muscle Documentation
• Prepares/Cleaning/Maintaining Exam Rooms
• Assumes responsibility with team for the overall cleanliness of diagnostic rooms
• Advises Director of any problems with equipment
• Complies with HIPAA regulations
• Responsible for continuing education and professional development

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Requires corrected hearing and vision to within functional ranges
• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to handle behavioral issues of patients and visitors while under highly stressful and volatile situations
• Work is performed in an outpatient clinic environment
• Work may be stressful at times
• Classified as having occupational exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens
• Exposure to communicable disease

Qualifications

• Competencies
• Education: High School Diploma
• Certifications & Licenses: Basic Life Support (BLS). If not BLS certified at time of employment, must be obtained within 6 months of hire date
• Experience: 1-2 years of work experience. Diagnostic experience preferred
