About the Role

Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquiring and analyzing data for diagnosis at the request of a licensed practitioner. Technologists independently perform or assist with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, prepare and administer medications, and document activities related to radiation exposure in compliance with federal and state laws.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) to maximize patient safety and care.
  • Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality; verify archival storage and post-processing of data.
  • Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures, including those outside the Radiology Department (e.g., Operating Room, Endoscopy, ICU).
  • Comply with all job-specific obligations, organizational policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required).
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps to advance to level 2 within 24 months.
  • Certification as a Radiology Technologist within 24 months (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT).
