Diagnostic Mechanic I

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment such as haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire and track dozers, front-end loaders, and motor graders.
• Remove, repair, and install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors, torque converters, final drives, and other heavy equipment systems or components.
• Maintain mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems including hydraulic, power train, and engines.
• Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
• Maintain work orders and perform work area inspections.
• Operate mobile equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
• Perform welding tasks including carbon arc, plasma, mig, tig, and stick welding.
• Assume responsibilities as a fill-in supervisor as required.
• Train and mentor other employees.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction).
• A combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
• HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
• Communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
• Possess excellent decision-making skills and ability to troubleshoot machine systems.
• Work and effectively communicate with others.
• Read and use blueprints.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.

What We Offer You

• The estimated pay range for this role is currently $28.50-$38.50/hour.
• This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions.
• Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
