Job Description

Reporting to the Department Manager, DI Associate is responsible for assisting technologists in exam rooms according to departmental protocols. The DI Associate performs a wide variety of technical, clerical and patient care duties that provide assistance for patients, radiologists, technologists and nurses.

Responsibilities

• Provides clerical support including answering phones, utilizing the Voalte system, printing requests in Meditech, assigning patients to transport in transport system, identifying patients per hospital policy, greeting patients.
• Supports the technologist by pre-screening patients, scanning paperwork into system, sending images to VRad or other remote destination and faxing results to appropriate locations.
• Recognizes and assumes responsibility for reporting patient care or safety concerns to appropriate staff and through the hospital’s event reporting system.
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of working area, stretchers and wheelchairs. Provides daily room supply checks and inventory counts in accordance with the department's inventory procedure.
• Assists with patient transfers to and from exam tables and may assist the technologist with positioning the patient for the exam.
• Performs disinfection of equipment, including but not limited to table, gantry, injector after each patient. Uses appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) per hospital policy throughout the shift.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS Required.

• Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending neck, bending waist, twisting neck, twisting waist, Power Grasping using both hands, Fine Manipulation using both hands, Pushing/Pulling using both hands, Keyboard use, Reaching-above shoulder height, Reaching-below shoulder height, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 lbs, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 lbs, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to or more than 100 lbs, Pull up and/or reposition patient weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance, Pull up and/or reposition patient weighing up to 250 pounds with assistance, Pushing items weighing up to 10 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 25 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 50 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 75 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to or more than 100 lbs, Push a wheelchair or wheeled bed containing a patient weighing up to 250 pounds, with assistance.

Skills

• Ability to read, and write in English in order to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with patients, families and other medical center staff; and respond to basic questions.
• Ability to understand spoken English in order to follow basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families and medical center staff in response to routine questions.
• Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations.

Pay

Pay Range $17.69 - $27.44 This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
