About the Role

Under the direct supervision of the modality or department leader, the Diagnostic Imaging Aide coordinates department activities through communication, requisitioning, and managing supplies, equipment, and staff. This role interacts with personnel from various departments, support services, the public, and department co-workers, providing administrative and clerical support.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency in completing assigned duties/responsibilities according to established protocols for procedures, including understanding the use and implications of imaging contrast.
  • Reviews lab work values for IV contrast studies and medical terminology related to patient history.
  • Provides clerical support, including test ordering, result processing, copying, filing, mailing, and handling telephone calls, film/report retrieval, printing, and faxing.
  • Schedules patient appointments based on physician requests, providing appropriate pre-registration and test preparation instructions.
  • Manages patient/data records for billing and tracking, including activating accounts, maintaining logs, and responding to film requests.
  • Reschedules patients and maintains systems for cancellations and pathology.
  • Provides safe direct patient care, including assisting technologists, radiologists, and nurses, changing table configurations, and coordinating cases as directed.
  • Greets patients, provides clear instructions for paperwork, and communicates test-related information concisely.
  • Reviews and completes pending report logs and failed faxes, retrieving patient-related documents for radiologists and staff.
  • Retrieves and disseminates imaging medical records, uploads external imaging onto PACS, and follows network policies for patient identification and assistance.
  • Assists with placing patients on and off procedure tables using proper body mechanics, including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Provides clerical support for critical value reporting.
  • Stocks and cleans rooms, records refrigerator and warmer temperatures, puts away supplies, and disposes of linen/garbage.
  • Observes patients in holding areas, assists in safe patient transfers, and adheres to Falls Prevention protocols.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and organizes a clean, safe work environment.
  • Complies with hospital, local, state, and federal regulatory and accrediting standards, as well as department-specific protocols and policies.
  • Participates in continuing education and completes required E-Learning assignments.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or equivalent programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 3 months of entering the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous data entry experience.

Working Conditions

Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs, and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Pay

Minimum starting rate of $20.68 per hour. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. The final offer may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding.
