Diagnostic Communications Veterinarian

About the role

The Diagnostic Callback Veterinarian at DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is a part-time position focused on communicating diagnostic results and treatment recommendations to clients. This role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys client communication, medical interpretation, and helping families navigate complex medical information.

Responsibilities

  • Contact clients regarding completed diagnostic test results, including laboratory findings, imaging reports, pathology, cytology, and other diagnostic studies.
  • Clearly explain medical findings in a compassionate, understandable manner.
  • Review recommendations from attending veterinarians and specialists with clients.
  • Answer client questions regarding diagnoses, treatment recommendations, medications, monitoring, and next steps.
  • Document all client communications thoroughly within the medical record.
  • Cook up follow-up appointments, referrals, or additional diagnostics as appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with specialty services, emergency clinicians, referral coordinators, and client service teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Identify cases requiring escalation to the attending clinician or specialty service.
  • Provide exceptional client service while supporting DoveLewis' commitment to outstanding patient care.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)
  • Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in Oregon
  • Strong medical knowledge across emergency and specialty medicine
  • Excellent verbal communication and client education skills
  • Able to explain complex medical information with empathy and clarity
  • Strong medical record documentation skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Collaborative team player with a client-centered approach

Competitive compensation offered.

Schedule

Part-time position, approximately 4 hours per day. Flexible scheduling options may be available. Remote work may be considered after successful onboarding and demonstration of competency, depending on operational needs.
