Role Overview This position involves performing technical, patient-attending, and clerical duties related to echocardiography. Key responsibilities include obtaining, measuring, and recording echocardiogram data, positioning patients for optimal results, and operating equipment using M-mode, 2D, spectral Doppler, and color Doppler techniques. The role requires visualizing cardiac anatomy, assessing blood flow and valve pathology, and documenting significant findings for cardiologist review. The technician conducts various echocardiography studies such as transthoracic, transesophageal, stress, and intraoperative exams on both adult and pediatric patients, according to their level of expertise. They also maintain equipment, manage supplies, and schedule patient examinations. Additional duties include training new staff, ensuring CPR certification, and performing clerical tasks like data entry, filing, and test logging. The position demands a minimum of two years of echocardiography experience, completion of an accredited ultrasound program, and certification as a registered cardiac sonographer. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on customer service.
