Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Senior

About the role

Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, and biopsy ultrasound procedures under supervision, collaborating with physicians and staff to ensure accurate imaging and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts ultrasound studies and positions patients.
  • Reviews orders and consults with radiologists.
  • Recognizes anatomy and artifacts, adjusting techniques as needed.
  • Maintains patient safety, privacy, and accurate documentation in RIS.
  • Prepares sterile fields, assists with biopsies, and ensures equipment functionality.
  • Processes and transmits images for interpretation.
  • Provides compassionate patient care, safety instructions, and assists during emergency situations.
  • Maintains supplies, cleanliness, and equipment.
  • Trains new personnel and students, and participates in continuing education.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years post-graduate sonography experience or equivalent training.
  • Completion of an approved ultrasound program or related experience.
  • Certifications include Basic Life Support and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
  • Preferred skills include expertise in general, breast, vascular, and obstetric imaging.
  • Additional certifications and an associate degree are advantageous.
