Diabetes Research Intern
About the role
Exciting opportunity for an individual to be part of a team working on cutting-edge research at the International Diabetes Center (IDC), a world-renowned organization dedicated to providing the best possible care for people with diabetes or who are at risk for diabetes. The intern will participate in the day-to-day implementation and operation of research studies conducted by IDC.
The ultimate goal for the research intern is to learn from the studies we participate in and gain experience to build their knowledge base for future education or career goals. Work directions will come from a variety of internal staff.
Responsibilities
- Data entry
- Contacting potential study participants
- Eligibility screening
- Generation of reports
- Attending meetings
- Working with different study teams within the department
- Supply management and shipping
- Preparation of materials for study visits
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients
- Candidates must be available to be on-site for the full duration of the internship
Qualifications
- Previous patient care experience, phlebotomy, or research experience (preferred)
- Successful completion of college-level general biology or chemistry coursework (preferred)
- A letter of recommendation is requested with application or by time of interview (can come from current faculty, advisors, or any other professional reference)

- Previous experience with electronic patient care records and electronic clinical databases (preferred)
Schedule
Monday-Friday, typically 7:30am-4pm or as needed. This is a 12-month internship with possible extension dependent on the needs of the program.
