About the role

The Tennessee Department of Human Services is seeking a DHS Vocational Trainer as a Child Care Area of Study Instructor. This position is located at the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center in Smyrna and supports the mission of the center.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise Child Care Area of Study curriculum based on industry standards and Board of Health requirements.
• Demonstrate effective instructional, classroom management, and active listening skills.
• Role model hard and soft skills essential to both the classroom and workplace.
• Motivate students to reach their greatest potential by creating a supportive and effective learning environment.
• Identify and adapt individualized teaching methods suitable for the individual needs of students.
• Ensure students have the resources needed to succeed by obtaining the proper tools and equipment for learning from the appropriate sources.
• Give recommendations for tutoring to promote a better learning experience for the student.
• Monitor and analyze student achievement data to assist in modifying, planning, and delivering academic instruction.
• Obtain and maintain community partnerships.
• Provide oversight and guidance to students during clinical training.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to four years in the specific specialty area in which the position will be working.
• Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants must complete the Department of Human Resources facilitator course and obtain the credentials of a Certified Facilitator within six months of hire; complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority; agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority; supply a fingerprint sample prescribed by the TBI based criminal history records check.

Benefits

This position offers a salary range of $4,057.00 - $5,078.00 monthly or $48,684.00 - $60,936.00 annually.
