About the role

As a Cook, you'll be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality food to ensure it meets our exceptional standards. This role will keep you busy in the kitchen, crafting delicious meals that will go worldwide and uphold our commitment to culinary excellence.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of the required menus.
- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties.
- Responsible for prep, cooking, clean up, and organization of the kitchen area, complete pre-production.
- Prepare meats, fish, pasta, side dishes, and garnishes following recipes carefully.
- Roast, fry, steam, grill, and bake meats, fish, and vegetables as required by recipes.
- Prepares food by cleaning, peeling, mincing, cutting, chopping, mixing, portioning, measuring ingredients, packaging, and labeling.
- Prepare sauces and dressings according to the standards.
- Ensure enough product has been pulled for the day; replenish supplies.
- Maintain proper food production records and ensure all equipment is operable.
- Maintain reasonable portion control and forecast of production.
- Practice proper grooming, personal hygiene, and use safety equipment.
- Place racks of products in the cooling tunnel or any other available waiting area, stocked and ready to go.
- Turn off all cooking machines before leaving to ensure the kitchen is locked and all items are secured.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen personnel & and other unit departments.
- Comply with all company service standards, health & safety procedures, and food safety requirements.
- Help where needed to ensure all kitchen areas are ready for service.
- Responsible for sanitation and post-service set-up.
- Notify the team lead, lead hand, or manager of any maintenance repairs needed or unsafe conditions.
- Taste and smell prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
- Monitor the temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met before steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service.
Requirements
- At least two years of experience cooking in a restaurant or catering business.
- Experience preparing any of the following styles is a plus (halal, Indian, eastern food).
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
- Good knowledge of HACCP is an asset (training will be provided otherwise).
- Attendance, diligence, punctuality, reliability.
- Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends (depending on assigned shift).
Qualifications
- Physical demands: Stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly and use your hands to handle or feel. Lift, push, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Physical environment: Kitchen with multiple ovens, temperatures ranging from room temperature to very hot, and noise levels varying from moderate to very loud.
