Dexa Technician - Variable Shift, Per diem

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiographic exams limited to Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA).
  • Follows strict guidelines about the usage of radiographic equipment.
  • Captures patients for exams and explains procedures to them.
  • Coordinates modality workflow by matching up requisition, accompanying paperwork and notifying technologist.
  • Prepares imaging dressing rooms for cleanliness and neatness.
  • Reviews and proofreads outpatient schedules and orders for the Technologists.
  • Contacts providers for corrected or amended orders via phone, fax or email.
  • Utilizes the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) for exam record images & storage.
  • Uses the Meditech and PACS to serve the clinical needs of the patient and fiscal needs of the Department.
  • Performs billing processes correctly and accurately.
  • Accurately performs medical record activities for registration and procedure scheduling, and database and film library maintenance.
  • Effectively and courteously assists patients both in person and by telephone.
  • Affords assistance to Radiologist (and referring and visiting physicians) with locating case files.
  • Prioritizes multiple activities to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Maintains equipment, work area, and adequate supplies.
  • Copies films, burns exams to CDs, and pulls up reports when necessary.

Requirements

  • Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Two years' clerical experience in a medical or dental office setting: Preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current California Limited Permit-Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) license: Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Qualifications

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required

Skills

  • Knowledge of radiographic equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to follow strict guidelines about the usage of radiographic equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain procedures to patients.
  • Attention to detail for accurate and responsive performance of routine tasks.
  • Basic computer skills to utilize PACS and Meditech systems.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple activities efficiently.

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $25.00 to $31.84. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
