DevSecOps Research and Development Engineer
About the role
We are seeking DevSecOps Research and Development Engineers to join our Digital Engineering team of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. These positions would work out of State College, PA or Reston, VA.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure automation solutions for development, testing, and production environments
- Manage continuous integration and delivery pipeline to maximize efficiency
- Improve systems through updates and optimizations using various technologies
- Present program overviews, proposals, and technical briefings at internal and external events
- Cook with sponsors and team members to identify risks, issues, requirements, and design solutions for project-level activity on a day to day basis
Requirements
- Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Ansible
- Experience with version control software such as Git
- Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with logging, search, and/or aggregation tools such as Splunk, Elastic, or Prometheus
- Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes with team and management
- Well-organized, independent and ready to work with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Working with Atlassian products (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence)
- Familiarity with Java, C/C++, and Matlab
- Familiarity with VMWare virtualization tools
- Familiarity with GitLab
- Experience with databases such as SQL, PostreQL, and MySQL
- Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services

Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $101,316.00 - $192,180.00. This salary range includes an adjustment based on required geographic work location.
