About the role
As a DevOps Software Engineer Level 3 at Independent Software, you will support the development, deployment, and administration of complex mission-critical systems. This highly customer-facing role combines software engineering, DevOps, Kubernetes, Linux, and infrastructure automation in support of satellite communications systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy solutions using C++ or Python, Kubernetes, GPU technologies, and modern DevOps practices while helping ensure systems meet operational and user requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and sustain mission-critical software and infrastructure solutions
- Develop software and automation using C++ and/or Python
- Design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments
- Support containerized applications, cluster networking, storage, monitoring, and security
- Automate system configuration and deployment using Ansible, Bash, Python, and Git-based workflows
- Configure, troubleshoot, and secure Linux environments, including RHEL and Rocky Linux
- Support CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and automated testing
- Troubleshoot networking, software, infrastructure, and deployment issues
- Collaborate directly with customers and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Support GPU technologies and satellite/RF-related applications
Requirements
- Strong Software Engineering and/or DevOps experience
- Development experience with C++ and/or Python
- Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications
- Experience with DevOps, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and automation
- Experience with Ansible and/or similar automation technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and customer-facing communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus twenty (20) years of relevant Software Engineering experience; OR
- Twenty-four (24) years of relevant Software Engineering experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree
- Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
