About the role

The Senior DevOps Engineer is a vital member of our remote team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. This role requires an experienced professional who can work independently with minimal oversight, while also providing mentorship and guidance to other team members. The Senior DevOps Engineer will influence long-term program strategies, improve existing processes, and drive innovations in software engineering practices. This position involves close collaboration with government partners, application teams, and stakeholders to ensure that software deployments meet security, performance, and reliability standards. The role emphasizes the development of cloud-native solutions, automation, and observability to support high-quality software delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years of professional software engineering or DevOps experience
• Expertise in DevOps fundamentals including software installation, virtualization, containerization, and networking
• Proficiency with Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure as code
• Advanced knowledge of GitHub Actions and Argo CD for CI/CD pipelines
• Strong experience with HAProxy and OpenResty for load balancing and reverse proxy configurations
• Extensive experience with AWS Cloud Services, including EKS/Kubernetes
• U.S. citizenship or current legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Ability to pass and maintain required government background investigations

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to consolidate and simplify DevOps tools and services across teams through influential collaboration
• Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering growth and knowledge sharing
• Lead small or temporary teams and projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery
• Design and present system architecture, diagrams, and technical documentation to clients and stakeholders
• Develop self-directed cloud infrastructure solutions, balancing cost, reliability, and efficiency tradeoffs
• Create reusable libraries, modules, and packages for infrastructure automation
• Build and optimize cloud infrastructure supporting applications and enhancing developer experience
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, and ArgoCD
• Integrate security, quality, and performance tools into deployment workflows, ensuring compliance with non-functional requirements
• Work proactively with government partners and application teams to meet security standards, SLAs, and performance benchmarks
• Participate in technical interviews to evaluate new candidates and strengthen team capabilities
