About the Role

Freddie Mac’s Capital Markets division is seeking a Platform Engineer with extensive Unix Administration expertise to join its well-established DevOps team. You will own the Nimble tool chain, supporting 300+ software development professionals by providing a consistent, automated platform for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD). Your work will directly impact Freddie Mac’s retained portfolio, debt funding, liquidity management, interest-rate hedging, and securitization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Own and enhance the Nimble tool chain, enabling development teams to deliver products efficiently and agilely.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the development community, providing consultancy on:
    • Application architecture and software containerization (Docker)
    • Iterative and test-driven development
    • Continuous integration and deployment
    • Automated testing
  • Develop, maintain, and extend Nimble’s automation fabric, including tools for:
    • Project workflow and source code/artifacts management
    • Development workflow and continuous build/integration
    • Test automation and continuous delivery/deployment
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet business needs economically and effectively, ensuring high availability, resiliency, and security.
  • Design, provision, and manage runtime platforms and fully automated CI/CD solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant professional work experience.
  • 5+ years of Unix Administration experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Docker.
  • 5+ years of experience engineering automated software delivery toolchains.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering for non-production and production environments.
  • Clear understanding of security practices and identity management in SDLC tools.
  • Expertise in:
    • Linux platforms (Red Hat)
    • Automated configuration management (Ansible is required)
    • High Availability techniques, including failover, load balancing (hot-cold implementation), and business continuity/wide area resiliency
    • Scripting languages: Bash (10+ years of hands-on experience required), Python, Groovy
    • Application software deployment and orchestration (yum)
    • Java application deployments and resource management

  • Experience developing fully automatic and lights-out implementations.

Pay

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $130,000 - $196,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will depend on factors such as experience, skill set, internal pay equity, and other relevant qualifications.
