Everyone is trying to “harness the cloud,” but not everyone knows how. As a DevOps engineer, you’re eager to develop, manage, and secure a container platform that meets your client’s needs and takes advantage of cloud capabilities. We need you to develop container management software to solve some of our clients’ toughest challenges. On our team, you’ll hone your skills using the latest cloud technologies as you look for ways to improve your client’s environment with current container software to ensure seamless orchestration. Using your DevOps platform experience, you’ll support your team as you inform strategy and design while ensuring standards are met throughout the containerization process. You’ll recommend resources that will help your client manage and securely adopt containers. Additionally, you’ll continue to strengthen your DevOps skills while supporting the development of critical cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop container management software to address client challenges
  • Improve client environments using current container software for seamless orchestration
  • Support team strategy and design while ensuring standards in the containerization process
  • Recommend resources to help clients manage and securely adopt containers
  • Strengthen DevOps skills while supporting the development of critical cloud platforms

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in an AWS cloud environment
  • 5+ years of experience with containerization, building images, and orchestrating deployments in Kubernetes and Rancher or EKS
  • 4+ years of experience managing tools deployed with Helm using ArgoCD or Flux, including writing custom Helm charts, and with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, or IaC tool suite
  • Experience developing custom applications and supporting them in a production environment
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code environments, including automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, or monitoring and testing such as CI/CD
  • Knowledge of container networking, monitoring, and storage solutions
  • Knowledge of container security technologies and evaluating and mitigating or resolving vulnerability findings
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree
  • DoD 8570 Level II Certification

Skills

  • Experience developing in Java or Python (preferred)
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ElasticSearch, Kibana, and FluentD (preferred)
  • Experience with the design, deployment, and management of Cloud environments, including AWS or Azure (preferred)
  • Experience using or migrating CI/CD pipeline solutions or tools, including Jenkins, Git, or TeamCity (preferred)
  • Experience with system integration using protocols such as JSON, REST, and XML (preferred)
  • Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby and leveraging JSON, YAML, or XML for configuration (preferred)
  • Knowledge of cloud and virtualization-based technologies, including Docker, Azure, AWS, or VMware (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Linux or UNIX administration and automation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of foundational system administration principles (preferred)
  • Kubernetes Certification (preferred)

Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs. Individuals that do not meet the threshold are only eligible for select offerings, not inclusive of health benefits.

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements.

Work model expectations:

  • Remote: Generally virtual, but may require occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
  • Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with possible visits to customer facilities as needed.
  • Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility for direct collaboration.

Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings to support engagement and effective communication.
