About the role

The DevOps Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the service availability and performance of Salesforce's Government Cloud infrastructure. They will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the Salesforce platform and tools used by various internal teams for government customers.

Responsibilities

  • Solve Infrastructure related problems with code (with a focus on reusability)
  • Build compute capacity and orchestrate Kubernetes deployments at scale
  • Lead key projects in automated CI/CD pipelines to maintain feature velocity and resolve production issues
  • Design and orchestrate complex systems integrating AI agents into human workflows
  • Contribute to building and maintaining shared system context for accurate and reliable AI operation
  • Show autonomy and take ownership of areas, demonstrating a sense of responsibility for progress
  • Understand and improve a large-scale production infrastructure within third-party cloud service providers
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation
  • Collaborate with various other Infrastructure teams across Salesforce
  • Enhance influence and collaboration skills working with a diverse team of developers, open-source contributors, and architects
  • Research and develop the right tools for the job, and if necessary, create new tools

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in AWS environments, including infra build and optimization
  • Skilled in IaaS based TCP/IP networking protocols and associated components like transit gateway (tgw), vpc, security groups, and Route tables
  • 3+ years deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) & orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE)
  • 3+ years development experience in Infrastructure as code and config management such as Terraform and/or Ansible
  • 3+ years Linux system engineering experience
  • 2+ years developing or managing infrastructure and application security for Highly Sensitive Customer Data & Environments (IAM, CI/CD, PKI)
  • 2+ years working experience scripting/programming language (Shell, Python, Golang)
  • Experience with Log Management and Analytics tools such as Splunk / ELKA
  • Experience developing security & compliance into pipelines such as (OPA, Checkov, Twistlock, Prisma)
  • Genuine AI-first approach to engineering
  • Advanced prompt engineering skills and the ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate the system context that makes AI outputs reliable, secure, and production-ready
  • Strong analytical skills and dedication to ongoing professional development
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities with proficiency in both written and oral communication

Nice to Haves

  • Production service management experience, including on-call/PagerDuty rotations and monitoring of service-specific SLIs and SLOs
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus
  • Experience developing security & compliance into pipelines such as (OPA, Checkov, Twistlock, Prisma)

The typical base salary range for this position is $96,300 - $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range is $116,000 - $285,800 annually.
