OperAxis is hiring a DevOps Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client, a leading financial services organization in Columbus, Ohio. You will join an agile technology team focused on designing, building, and delivering secure, stable, and scalable solutions. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
About the Role
The role centers on automation, continuous delivery, and cloud infrastructure supporting critical business applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that improve release speed and reliability
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling in Python to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency
- Provision, configure, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure including compute, networking, storage, identity, and container services
- Deploy, scale, and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes in production environments
- Collaborate with application development, platform, and security teams to onboard applications, improve deployment processes, and enforce operational standards
- Identify recurring issues and implement automation that improves system stability and reduces toil
- Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability practices so teams can detect and resolve problems quickly
- Contribute to infrastructure as code patterns and self-service developer experiences that accelerate delivery across teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
Skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3 or more years of applied experience
- Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and tooling
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch
- Proven experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes at scale
- Demonstrated ability to design and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, or GitHub Actions
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices, containerization with Docker, and cloud-native architectures
- Experience working in an agile environment and collaborating across development and operations teams
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform (preferred)
- Familiarity with observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog (preferred)
- Prior experience supporting applications in a regulated financial services environment (preferred)

This is a W2 contract role.
