DevOps Engineer

OperAxis is hiring a DevOps Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client, a leading financial services organization in Columbus, Ohio. About the Role

The role centers on automation, continuous delivery, and cloud infrastructure supporting critical business applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that improve release speed and reliability
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling in Python to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency
• Provision, configure, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure including compute, networking, storage, identity, and container services
• Deploy, scale, and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes in production environments
• Collaborate with application development, platform, and security teams to onboard applications, improve deployment processes, and enforce operational standards
• Identify recurring issues and implement automation that improves system stability and reduces toil
• Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability practices so teams can detect and resolve problems quickly
• Contribute to infrastructure as code patterns and self-service developer experiences that accelerate delivery across teams

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

Skills

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3 or more years of applied experience
• Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and tooling
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch
• Proven experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes at scale
• Demonstrated ability to design and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, or GitHub Actions
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices, containerization with Docker, and cloud-native architectures
• Experience working in an agile environment and collaborating across development and operations teams
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform (preferred)
• Familiarity with observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog (preferred)
• Prior experience supporting applications in a regulated financial services environment (preferred)

Pay

This is a W2 contract role.
